Recent news says that emails are being received from BT stating that 'customers' owe outstanding bill money and request payment now. It is so well done that the old ,vulnerable and unwary will get suckered into paying.
Police advise you do not open any links (that ask for bank details for payment especially) and just close / dispose of the mail.

if you EVER have to give your bank account number over the internet - Don't, ask if you can use Patpal or some other intermediatry means.
However if they persist on asking for your bank details give them this
00-00-00 as the sort code and 00000000 as the back account number - it will screw up their computer if this is done automatically
