It is getting dusty in here...

What do you do during the winter months when the weather is really bad. Do you sort out you letterboxing gear or gaze longingly out of the window?

Read my Dartmoor books (newly acquired).

Make notes of 'interesting' items, for future reference and possibly use as stamps.

Cut yet more stamps. Still got quite a few in the pipeline but not the time!

Must get around, to putting more out!!!

C'mon Nik! You must know there is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing!

I'll be gazing longingly out of the window, wondering if its better on the other side of the moor...

I'll rephrase that - Bad light limitations

Well oddly enough walking (hopefully on crystal clear days....). A couple of years ago on the 28th December I ascended Western Beacon in visibility of about 50m and had views of fog for about several hours. At the time I was geocaching (a new found hobby) and didn't notice the rain or mist (or cows) such was I engrossed to find the box... and the next box.... and the next box etc.

Just started letterboxing in earnest - this weekend will see me covering a wide tract of the southern moor between Shell Top and Combestone but since I am clueless I will be using pot luck and following my nose. :)

Hi there, a very warm welcome to the forum - lots of reading to keep you busy on these rain lashed days.

That's a very ambitious walk - Shell Top to Combestone! As you will be going over very rough ground and crossing a couple of streams, I wish you well. Crossing over Aune Mires will be tricky , but I hope you manage to find a few boxes out there.

Not quite brave enough to do it all in one walk so splitting it into two. Saturday will see me on Penn Beacon, Shell Top, Yealm Head & Erme Pits and on Sunday I will do Ryders Hill, Avon Mires, Fox Tor and the area around the O brook. Dawn till dusk. :D

Much better - do let us all know how you got on - its a lovely area to walk but will probably be a bit wet underfoot after all this rain. Enjoy :)

Sounds like a half-decent run. Will be having a trot up to Cut Hill on Sunday. Love the wind and rain...... 8)
