I read on the Letterboxing Facebook site - [url=https://www.facebook.com/groups/211796362188632][url]https://www.facebook.com/groups/211796362188632 - that a small wrought iron and timber seat has been installed - guerrilla style - close to Fur Tor's main outcrop.

How does everyone feel about a new Dartmoor artifact such as this? Curious novelty, or unwelcome urbanisation the National Park's wildest areas? Is it any different to the vast quantity of antiquities humans have abandoned on the Moor over the centuries? Will the National Park Authority be failing in their duty NOT to remove it?

Personally, I don't see it as an eyesore, like grafitti. It isn't a hazard, unlike a farmer's rusty animal feeder. It has a purpose, like a clapper bridge or flagpole. So I have no issue with it, although I believe the authorities will disagree..!

I quite like the idea - as a one-off, unusual and interesting feature. It's not permanent, causes no damage and could be removed by anyone (with sufficient willpower to carry it) but if I was walking nearby, I'd definitely take a detour to check it out.

It's position at this particular location makes it difficult for me to disagree with it, anywhere else closer to the road I would be against. I didn't spot it until quite nearby so it's not obtrusive ,
