This is a very interesting point. I've put out a few charity walks over the past 3 - 4 years (all the TCS ones) and priced them at £2.50 because that seemed to be the accepted norm. Although it is a very cheap activity (minus petrol, food costs etc), I'm not sure if people would react favourably if ...

Keep your eye on ebay. I found one on there and, although it cost me about £15.00, it has proven to be invaluable.

We've always found Corndon and Yar Tors bereft of boxes in the past. We recently went to Hameldown and most of the boxes that we searched for were missing. The area around Littaford, Longaford, Higher White and Crow Tors has been similarly disappointing. Obviously, the areas nearer to parking areas ...

We managed to find a place to park yesterday and had a lovely time. The weather was absolutely perfect meaning that the views were stunning. Many thanks for your advice.

Easdon Down

Hello,

I'm hopeful of convincing Michelle to go up to Easdon Down this weekend (weather permitting), but we've tried before and found it difficult to find anywhere to park. Does anybody have any suggestions? Do we park near Barracott Farm or somewhere in North Bovey?

Best Wishes,

Hello, I managed to get up Scafell Pike which was a truly beautiful walk. The final mile or so was up in the clouds and visibility was down to about 10 yards so the views were non-existent. However, I got some beautiful pictures on the way down and would thoroughly recommend the hike to anyone. It's...

Lakeland Letterboxes

Hello, We're going up to the Lake District next week and, whilst Michelle and her sons go out and do some adventurous stuff (some sort of high wires that fill with me dread and foreboding...), I'm going to have a pop at scaling Scafell Pike and possibly Skiddaw on another day if possible. Having loo...

Well done, Scott. Michelle and I went up to Corndon Tor/Yar Tor a couple of years ago and had a very disappointing time - loads of empty sites, smashed letterboxes and stolen stamps. It's good to hear that you managed to find quite a few - especially the Guardian as I spent about 2 hours looking for...

I have also used Devon Stamps. You need to provide clear B + W images which need to be the correct size. The quality of the stamps that I have received are superb and very well made with an image of the stamp on the backing. The turnaround is also very quick from sending images to receiveing the fin...

Personally, Michelle and I never use a GPS as we think it removes a major part of the challenge - the satisfaction of finding boxes solely by the use of map and compass must be greater than being directed to a much smaller locale by technology. However, as we are only in our 30s, I appreciate that m...

If it would help,I live in Kenton which is not that far from Teignmouth. If need be I could lend you my GPS for the day (very easy to use) so that you could obtain the exact grid ref for each box you put out. You will find my email address on the Memberlist. That's a very kind offer, but I've alrea...
