Duck Pool

Did this last summer. Didn't find masses of boxes in the area but found a few. Nice walk though. If you're doing the circuit back via Erme Pits, you'll go past Philpotts Cave

I think the deepest I found was about 2 feet down.
Sunshine Valley is definitely one of my "happy areas"
Blimey  I'll need to take half of Time Team with me then.

Trust in thy compass...

Have had a brilliant couple of days boxing, the first since the autumn, in some 'new' areas for me, namely around Sourton Tors (and Meldon Reservoir) and also Row Tor. Anyway, I was looking for a box on Row Tor. I had used my GPS as I do to get to the area in question and then switched to the compas...

In a way, I'm glad the Cranmere 150 box was missing - it means at least I wasn't in the wrong place. It was very annoying to finally make it to Cranmere Pool with no stamp, but I will get a copy of it and I can say that I made it there without any real difficulty (only stepped in a bog once - at lea...

That's very kind. I spoke to the ranger this week and they'll put a replacement out in the next few days.
They kindly offered to send me a copy of it, which reaffirmed my faith in human nature! If it doesn't arrive, I'll take you up on your kind offer.

Cranmere Pool stamp missing

Finally made it to Cranmere Pool today to find that the official stamp was missing :x :( . Very disappointing. I made a note of the contact details so will ring tomorrow. Didn't have much luck with Cranmere Pool - 150 years either. I found a suspicious hole with a couple of loose stones matching the...

I took my Pug estate all around about a month ago, only one place was tricky on the west side. Well I can now say I've driven on it! happy to report no barriers to either the west or east loop. The road is pretty bad in places as previously described. Ford on east side impassible today due to high ...

Thanks for that info. The weather forecast looks like tomorrow will be a dry if somewhat windy day so hopefully I'll be able to try it for myself then (providing someone hasn't put up a barrier in the meantime!)

Drove round the road 2 weeks ago and nothing has been done - hope they have run out of money  I have to ask. How passible is it for an ordinary family estate car? I've heard that it's all broken up but there are potholes and potholes if you catch my drift. I was planning to see how far I could...

'Fraid not, but I once did find a gent playing the saxophone in nothing but his Y fronts on top of Burrow Mump in Somerset. I decided it was probably the effects of either the local scrumpy or mushrooms... If you're ever near lower Haytor car park, there's a Boys Brigade field centre nearby and we c...

Has it shut yet?

Just wondered if anyone's been along the loop road recently and can advise how the Duchy's proposals have progressed, i.e. have the closures now been put into effect and is the anticipated improved car parking complete? It's just out of curiousity as I may have a trundle down that way next week and ...

Alls well that ends well

Thanks

Consequently, I made sure I took the opportunity for a stroll around Top Tor and Pil Tor on Sunday. Boxes were found. The weather was good. Happiness restored :D

Now drying them out again

Well that was a damp squib... Damp being the word. Managed to find a couple of boxes that I'd been wanting to get to for a while but all the grand plans came to a very soggy end. Oh, and apologies to anyone who got held up by the broken down van between Bovey and the A38 yesterday afternoon. We had ...
