Re: YHA Dartmoor Letterboxing

Great to have you here! :D The following info (posted on Facebook last month) might be interest to you... Alas, it'll be the closest to a charity Letterbox stroll around Bellever currently - at least until the end of March, when the Summer charity walks are launched (no details released on those yet...

Re: Charity Walks winter 2017/18

With regards the advert for my Caves & Tunnels Of Dartmoor walk above, please note this amendment:

Cheques for £2.50 should instead be made payable to Kari Bettoney - who owns and runs Mid Devon Bat Rescue.

Many thanks for your support!

Re: Bad article in the Times.

I panicked when I saw the subject title: I wasn't aware of a Times article too!! I think its far too soon to say that this news article will make things worse. I have no idea if geocaches suffer as much theft as Letterboxes. Perhaps we'll see an article about this in the morning. Maybe in another pa...

Re: Old Clues

I totally agree with all that Gaffer2 said. It is worth noting that the world has turned - in every way - since those old clues were issued. Due to planet Earth's molten core, the bearings will all be between 4 and 5 degrees different now. That's if they were accurate to start with! Speaking from ex...

Ebay stamp sale

I see that someone (helicopter902, if you know them!) is auctioning off a substantial circa 1990 Letterbox stamp collection on Ebay. It appears a new selection goes online each week. A starting price, per stamp, is 99p + 70p postage, if you're tempted. Have a look at the range - there are some class...

Re: Old catalogues

Hi Emma

For everyone's benefit: which season/years are your catalogues from?

Cheers!

Hi Greenview. A fascinating read! I found Snowdon Snowman on September 1st 1991, but the Letterbox has always stuck in my mind as a constant on that hill. I'm delighted to hear it is still there.

Not a fan of this idea how would it operate?
Well, perhaps a couple of special edition Letterboxing updates might be required. Prior, with Letterboxing rules reiterated, and after - with clues. It's just an idea about how we can encourage involvement, participation, and more boxes sited. :)

May 24th: International Plant-a-Letterbox Day

I have just learnt this day existed! I'm prepared to be shot down in flames, but, is this something we could adopt - with 100 Club backing of course - to boost participation in the hobby on Dartmoor? For "International", currently read North America. http://www.atlasquest.com/press/plantab...

A unique chance to find two copies of Mike Brown's book for sale together at Amazon.co.uk at the mo. Including a very rare opportunity to buy a good condition Gazetteer and "1998 supplement" too, although no details on what this supplement contains. This is the link: http://www.amazon.co.u...

A very good point well made, Mr Fox. If you sold your walk at £5, would you sell 50% of your clues? (Probably). If you sold your clues at £3, would you only sell half of them? (Probably not that many, but a 50p price hike can only afford a 15% drop in sales before your net gain is wiped out) That is...
