I purchased the walk by mail and received the 'Tailard' stamp with the clues. I also tend to ask for a sheet of all the stamps in case any are missing when I visit the sites on the walk. 'Eat The Mad Cow' was on the stamp sheet. It is not usual for the stamps in the box sites to differ from clues, b...

Forgotten English 4

Hi MnM. I received Tailard as the Starter stamp. As should you have when you purchased the clues. It seems there may have been an error in administration.

Technically nor is the Meet, but we still go there! There are a few boxes 'not on Dartmoor', being just outside the National Park Boundary. We still collect the stamps though.
The Who'd Have Thought It is a good pub, but like everything, you have a choice.

Hi Lara, T'was I who suggested to Ruth & Chris about having a letterbox after I had a walk from Clearbrook to The Who'd Have Thought It via Lopwell. What a great and like you say, friendly pub. Let's hope more people discover this pub. I did not know any letterboxers frequented the place. Did no...

Hi Mooncat, There are alot of places accessible by bus to go letterboxing. As I don't drive, I always letterbox using public transport. To get to Shaugh Moor & Collard Tor catch the City Bus service 58/59 to Shaugh Prior. It also visits Shaugh Bridge where there are a few boxes. Roborough Down -...

100 club for dogs

Hi, Just to correct the address for the 100 club dog tags. In the latest edition of the letterboxers catalogue - Spring 2008 - Brian Cole's address is listed as the following:- "Tower Trophies", Greenbank, Station Road, Willand, Devon. EX15 2PR. Tel:- 01844 821850. Well that's where he was...

Udder Crowd Walk

I have received an Email from the organisers of this walk, and they tell me that, having resited all of the missing boxes on Saturday afternoon, they have all gone missing again. This is getting rediculous. There should be a plan of action taken to trap these thieves. Perhaps a meeting, behind close...

It seems my/our assumptions were wrong and I apologise to JJpage. It was just too much of a coincidence, and when we came off the moor and spoke to the other letterboxers and compared notes all four of us reached the same conclusions, so the seed of guilt was planted in our heads, as such. We found ...

Forgotten English

Hi Everyone, I did the Forgotten English walk on Saturday 10th November. Whilst at box No.5, another person, presumably a letterboxer, stood away from me and only came to the site when I had left. I continued on my walk finding other boxes on my list for the day. I met up with Don Grassby, and we wa...

Removed From The Moor

On 6/11/07, I found the box "Heidi Comes Too" on Leeden Tor. It was advertised as being on site, the stamp being OK, but everything else a mess. I found this not to be the case. The stamp was missing, the visitors' book sodded, the ammo case rusted and breaking up and it was obviously unma...

Hi Brinnie,
I was just trying to find reasons for the missing boxes. I did not say there actually WAS a rivalry between the two hobbies.
I have come across a cache once when in the Ingra Tor area and duly took a copy of the stamp without disturbing the other items in the box.

Hi everyone, have just received an Email from one of the organisers of the Udder Crowd walk from Gutter Tor car park. Apparantly there are 3 boxes left, and they think the main attack on the boxes happened on the Tuesday afternoon after the meet. However, from what KOTM says, an earlier attack happe...

Hi Nick,
Regarding this topic of lost boxes, I was up around Ingra Tor a few days ago and found quite a few empty sites. It seems a waste of time buying the catalogue when boxes listed in ti are missing.
If you want help finding your boxes on Sheepstor perhaps a set of clues would help me help you?
