type of compass

is it reall necessary to have a 'sighted compass' as opposed to an ordinary compass, surely as long as you have the map and a compass, you can still find letterboxes,i understood that this was the whole fun of the excercise, step closer to GPS i think, fun going out of it

am off to do' A Dartmoor Trade' on saturday, will be my 4th charity walk, clocking up the boxes slowly but surely, might be a bit easier with my new compass!

A good sighting compass makes boxing much easier - I know as I have tried both but the invention of GPS has sort of ripped the fun out of boxing... and I use that too when I need the desire for speed!
