Hotels.

I had a very pleasant stay in the area over the spring/summer (2010).

This was at the Bedford Hotel at Tavistock. Yes, you would probably pay less at a B&B but I found it on 'late rooms' at a good rate. Somewhat gothic looking from the outside, it had lots of old world charm and good service on the inside, including free parking. Nice atmosphere, leather chairs, creaky floors and wood panels. All that was missing was Miss Marple! Tavistock is a very pleasant place to look around. If your partner doesn't share your desire to mooch around in the rain and mud, the hotel would prove a comfortable place for you both to pursue your interests for a w/e.

ghosts and creaky floors....

Post by The Thinkers »

Hello Tina,

The ghost might explain some of the creaky floors! I stayed there coincidentally on Valentines night (alone sadly!) and there were many unusual noises throughout the building - some of which I will leave to the imagination,

:)
